Newborn Baby Photography Shoot - Wimbledon

January 19, 2014

I arrived at this young family's house in Wimbledon (SW19) and baby Josephine was still sleeping.  Her parents, Clare and John, wanted to get some beautiful, natural photographs of their new daughter, as well as some photos with both mum and dad.

We started the photography session on the parents bed - a great place in the house for both newborn babies, as well as the whole family.  Clare wanted some photographs of Josephine naked.  Barely had she taken the nappy off and baby Josephine did what babies do!  We grabbed a few photographs of her on a gorgeous blanket that her granny had knitted for her.

After a few shots on the blanket, Josephine was definitely making her hunger known.  We then managed to get some lovely photographs of Clare breast-feeding her baby (see the above photograph taken in the nearby mirror), as well as some over-the-shoulder, winding shots.

Once fed, we took several photographs of Clare & John both together and individually with Josephine.  They both expected Josephine to fall back into a deep sleep quickly, but she had very different ideas and having a photographer to visit was certainly something that was already out of the ordinary for this little girl.  This gave us some fantastic opportunites to really get lots of great photographs of the family.

However, being just 18 days old, Josephine couldn't help her eyelids closing and sleep took over.  We then concentrated on some more photographs of her on the bed, as Clare wanted some classic sleeping, newborn babies shots.  Clare had also requested some photos of Josephine resting on John's arm to show how small she was (well, small for a baby that was born at 4kgs and who had already put on 500g!).

A really lovely, relaxed photography shoot with a young South African couple in Wimbledon, SW19.
