Newborn Baby Photography Shoot - Wimbledon
Baby Freyja was another of my lovely newborn babies that was born in November, a few days before her due date. I went to her family home in Wimbledon early in December where the house was a picture of calmness with her delightful parents who were very much enjoying the early, precious days of parenthood (despite the lack of sleep!).
Regan, Freyja's mummy, had been feeding her when I arrived and initially their little baby girl very much wanted cuddles. Going with the flow, as I do, I just grabbed some lovely natural photos of Freyja in her mummy's arms.
Once Freyja had settled and had fallen asleep, we took her up to a bedroom and placed her sleeping on the bed and captured a range of photos of her, including some close up details.
Whilst she slept there peacefully we also captured some beautiful family photos. It was so relaxed and peaceful that Regan even felt a touch of emotion as they lay there looking at their beautiful daughter - I felt so honoured to be present at that moment.
One thing that Frejya's parents had warned me at the beginning, was that their little baby absolutely hated getting her feet out... but obviously, like most parents, they wanted some little close up details of hands and feet. But so sleepy was this little girl, that it was easy to slip off her babygrow and vest, that we got a lovely selection of close up details (including the photo at the top of this photo blog post).
Although they wanted essentially 'natural' newborn photos, having a baby so soon before Christmas, Regan had not been able to resist a little Christmas outfit for her daughter. The little knitted trousers were too big, so we simply went for some naked photos with Freyja just wearing the hat (I do not put naked photos of babies onto my website, but here is a lovely head shot).
We had set up downstairs for a few photos against a black background. Freyja wasn't quite so happy, so we got both parents holding her and captured a couple of lovely images.
A few family shots and then, dressed in a cute, stripey outfit we got some final shots of her sleeping on a footrest before the session ended.
