Family Photography Shoot - East Dulwich, London
The day before the photography shoot for this lovely family the heavens opened. The forecast promised sunshine on the day and indeed, the sun did come out on this beautiful autumnal October day.
The main brief for this particular family shoot was to capture the family being themselves. Steve, the father, is a keen photographer himself and as a result their photo collection always seemed to be missing one crucial member of the family. They were also about to embark on a new adventure and were going to make their big move away from London, so it was important for them to have some memories of the family in their house in East Dulwich and at their local park, where they had spent many a happy hour playing. Steve and Claire have 2 gorgeous child, Drew (10 months old) and Joe, who to make the session even more exciting was 3 years old on the day of the family photo shoot.
We started the photography session at their beautiful house. Joe was keen to show off his two favourite birthday presents - a digger and a fantastic red, toy racing car - and Drew was quite simply an absolute flirt in front of the camera. We had bubbles blowing and lots of birthday balloons to blow up. After romping around in the sitting room we headed up to the parents bedroom where Joe decided that he should take over the role of photographer, or otherwise instructed me to take photographs of his new toy car - don't we just love digital cameras?
With snacks in hand we then headed off to their local park - Peckham Rye Park. A quick break for lunch at the cafe to refuel those hungry tummies and it was off to show me some of their favourite spots. I have never been to this park, and it really is a little gem. We crossed a little river over the stepping stones and crawled our way through the undergrowth. Steve and Joe collected a few pebbles (yep, that's one of my toddler's favourite activities too), which was when I got some of my personally favourite photographs from the photo shoot - see the lovely photograph above. I really feel that there is a story to this image.
No autumn photography shoot in the park can go without a good play in the leaves and Joe absolutely loved showering his mum and dad with the golden autumnal foliage.
I captured a few photographs of just Steve and Claire before we headed back to their house and the end of the session.
