Maternity Photo Session - Pimlico
The sun had definitely got his hat on for the day when I went round to Jan and Susanne's house for the maternity photography session. We decided quickly that we would head straight outside before the nearby square got too busy.
I got the photography session underway straight away with a few shots of this lovely, young couple on their doorstep. The background was the beautiful row of white, terraced, Regency houses that they live on. We then moved onto the lush, green St George's Square in Pimlico, which was just round the corner from their house. The square was full of fresh, green grass that was decorated by thousands of daisies. Both Jan and Susanne lay amongst the daisies and I really think they will look at the photographs in years to come and remember Susanne blossoming in her pregnancy during the English spring.
Close by the church, the flower beds were full of colour - the purple lilac, the blue Ceanothus all made for a fabulous set of springtime pregnancy photos.
Once we had had our fill of greenery, we decided to go for some real 'London' shots. Jan and Susanne are both originally from Germany and who knows if they will place their roots firmly here, but there was not doubt that a classic, old-style, red, British phone box would make for a good photo to send to friends and relatives back home and around the world. So we pottered down to the riverside where I had checked that there was an old red phone box... not only that, it looked over the river Thames and onto Battersea Power Station - that made for a real London shot. My favourite photo with the phone box was Susanne by herself peeking around the side with her bump sticking out (great idea Jan!).
It was time to then return to their house and get a range of photographs of both Jan and Susanne, Susanne and her bump and also a number of shots that will then be matched together with ones that include their little baby once arrived (the pre and post baby photographs).
The photograph I have chosen above is taken from their hallway, looking into the bedroom where Susanne is looking serene and calm with her beautiful bump.
A really lovely, fun couple. Their baby is due any day and I am really looking forward to meeting their new baby and getting some beautiful newborn baby photographs.
