Newborn Baby Photography Shoot - Tower Hill, London
I was really excited to be asked to photograph baby Charlotte. A good friend of mine had bought the photography session of her goddaughter as a gift and it must have been a good fifteen years since I had last seen the mother, so I was really looking forward to seeing her again and meeting her husband and new baby.
There was also another reason I was excited about this photo shoot - they lived in Tower Hill, where there is some wonderful architecture to make some rather more unusual baby photographs. Baby Charlotte was five weeks old when I came to do the photo session, so not a problem to go out.
When I arrived at their home, Charlotte was fast asleep on her daddy's chest, looking as peaceful to the world as a baby can be.
We decided to get out into the local neighbourhood quickly before too many crowds would be on the streets. We wandered along the Thames looking over Tower Bridge and then made our way into Shad Thames - I just love the way that overhead walkways make for an unusual backdrop. Charlotte wasn't particularly settled and was cuddled by her mummy and daddy.
As Charlotte was rather unsettled we headed back home where she could have a feed. It wasn't long after this that she fell asleep and we could get a number of sleeping shots of her - including some Christmas ones with fairy lights in the background, lying on a holly berry red blanket with a reindeer in her hand (see the photo at the top of this blog post).
No baby shoot goes without some kind of feet shot - and this one came out really well with the black background I felt - almost quite abstract.
We then got some family photos and I left Charlotte much as I had when I arrived, asleep on her daddy's chest.
