From Canals to Gardens: A Family Photography Adventure in London

London is bursting with incredible locations for family photoshoots, and this recent session with this family was a particularly special one. I've been photographing this amazing family for 12 years now, watching their daughter grow from a one year old baby to almost a teenager. It's truly an honour to capture these milestones and witness their unique energy as a family.

For this year's shoot, we wanted something a little different. We decided to embrace the vibrant and diverse atmosphere of London, starting in the charming waterways of Little Venice and ending in the lush greenery of Regent's Park.

Little Venice offered a picturesque and unique backdrop. The colourful canal boats, tranquil waters, and charming bridges created a relaxed and playful atmosphere. It was the perfect spot to capture some candid shots of the family interacting, laughing, and enjoying the unique scenery. These moments feel so authentic, and they are always some of my favourite shots to capture.

From Little Venice, we took a leisurely stroll towards Regent's Park, making use of the changing scenery along the way. With older children and teenagers, it's all about keeping them engaged and comfortable. We stopped at interesting spots, letting them create their own poses and incorporating their personalities into the photographs. This collaborative approach always results in more natural and meaningful images.

Reaching Regent's Park, we were greeted with expansive lawns, statues carved out of the fallen trees. We captured some stunning family portraits against this breathtaking backdrop, showcasing the joy and love that this family shares.

This photoshoot was a wonderful reminder of how London can provide diverse and engaging locations for family photography. It’s not just about pretty backgrounds; it’s about capturing genuine moments and creating lasting memories. Seeing a family grow and evolve in front of my lens for over a decade is a privilege, and I’m already looking forward to next year’s adventure!
